It seems like we can’t go a week without news on some graphic novel being adapted for the big screen, doesn’t it? The news on graphic novel adaptations has been spilling out recently so why would I put a stop to that now?
The latest comic to get the big screen treatment courtesy of Waterman Entertainment is going to be Peter B. Gillis’ STRIKEFORCE: MORITURI, which was a sci-fi comic from Marvel Comics way back in the late 1980s. So what’s this thing about? Basically we’ve got aliens versus superheroes. Do you even need to know more?
The story centers on aliens who strip Earth of all its resources and a scientist who discovers a method of giving humans superhuman powers — but the process results in the superheroes dying within a year after acquiring their powers.
So there you have it. We’ve seen many different groups battle aliens, from kids to Marines and everything in between… but dying superheroes? That’s a new one.
Gillis and Connor Cochran will be penning the script for STRIKEFORCE: MORITURI with Jeff Beard producing. No word on who will be directing this thing just yet.
