Alright folks I’m about to school you all on yet another project heading our way from the hardest working man in the industry: Mr. Guillermo del Toro. Seriously, this is like project #567 del Toro has attached himself to in the past few months. Mind you I’m not complaining, as I’m sure most of you aren’t either.
Del Toro’s work, whether the filmmaker is writing, directing or producing, always ends up being pretty damn solid so I’m always stoked to hear about another project coming our way from him. Today I’m here to tell you all about a project called MAMA, which according to Variety has just tapped Jessica Chastain to star.
Chastain (pictured) recently put up some solid performances in TREE OF LIFE and TAKE SHELTER, she’s also been in the running for leads in big upcoming flicks like THE LONG RANGER and TRANCE. So as you can see this is a pretty solid move for MAMA.
Story revolves around two young girls who flee from a ghostly woman they believe to be their mother.
Barbara Muschietti co-wrote the film with Andres Muschietti and will be producing with del Toro through his Del Toro Productions banner. Gary Ungar and Brian Witten will serve as executive producers with Andres Muschietti directing, the project itself being based on a short film Muschietti did.
