A clear look at Karl Urban as Judge Dredd is in!

Pete Travis’ DREDD has somewhat fallen off my radar as of late. Perhaps it’s the lack of promo materials thus far (we’ve gotten an unremarkable teaser poster and an unexciting still), but it just so happens that it’s a movie I rarely think about.

Now that a new image has barged in, maybe DREDD will finally start looking like the kick-ass project it has the potential to be. Bleeding Cool has just premiered a new image from the film, which you can see below. Again, fairly unexciting, but at least it confirms that Karl Urban looks for all the world like an imposing Judge Dredd.

Dredd takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring Dredd to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.

In addition to Urban, DREDD stars Olivia Thirlby, Lena Headey, Jason Cope, Kevon Kane, Joe Vaz, Langley Kirkwood, and Warrick Grier. It’s currently in post-production; it’s scheduled to hit theaters in the UK on DECEMBER 1st, but is still without a firm release date in North America.
