My first inclination tells me this’ll either be aimed at the younger demo, or won’t quite fit the AITH M.O. Still, on a slow news Friday, let’s see how you lads and lasses feel about it…

Deadline has it that Fox just took the rights to a graphic novel by Royden Lepp called RUST: VISITOR IN THE FIELD. Word is Aline Brosh McKenna has been brought on to pen the script. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, it probably shouldn’t ’round these parts. The dude wrote 27 DRESSES, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA and a whole host of maudlin rom-coms. Wow, my faith in RUST is dwindling by the second.

The graphic novel takes place on a family’s farm in the American heartland, where Jet Jones crashes into the barn, pursued by a giant decomissioned war robot. The heartland has been devastated by a world war and the family tries to decide if the kid with the jet pack is the key to their survival.

A decomissioned war robot? WTF does that even mean? Wow.

R.U.S.T., an Archaia Entertainment production, hits shelves this September. Let us know if it sounds like a project you’d like to see us continue to cover.
