Blade & Batman Begins scribe David Goyer set to write Godzilla for Legendary

Can you get much more high profile than David S. Goyer? Seriously? The A-list scribe currently has his name on THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, THE MAN OF STEEL and GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE…and that’s just counting the films yet to be released. Seems like he’s the only man in town with a net large enough to capture GODZILLA!

And according to Nikki Finke, Goyer has been hired by Legendary Pictures to do just that. He’ll rework a David Callaham (THE EXPENDABLES) script to bring a newfangled version of GODZILLA to the big-screen. As you know, MONSTERS director Gareth Edwards is set to direct the potential monster-movie franchise. Word is the film and characters will be comported in the most authentic manner possible.

Goyer of course wrote the BLADE movies, DARK CITY, THE PUPPET MASTERS, THE CROW: CITY OF ANGELS and BATMAN BEGINS. Given that impressive resume, you think he’ll do what many have tried before and failed: pump new life into GODZILLA? If he can’t do it, who can?
