That’s right folks, you read that title right. An adaptation of the classic video game SPACE INVADERS is indeed on the way. Forget that the thing really has no plot at all… this is Hollywood!
Seriously though, we’re really looking at an original movie with the SPACE INVADERS name here, aren’t we? The game is basically a spaceship gunning down aliens.. and that’s it. If that’s the case haven’t we seen tons of SPACE INVADERS flicks in the past? Enough of my rambling.. let’s get serious.
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Odd Lot Entertainment’s Gigi Pritzker are moving forward with an adaptation of the classic video game and are currently shopping around for a writer to come up with a story. This can really go anywhere at this point..
So what says you guys? You down for a SPACE INVADERS flick or could you care less? Personally I’ll wait until this thing scores itself a writer and see what direction they’re going in with this.
