Two quick release date updates for your asses: Rian Johnson’s trippy time-travel thriller LOOPER gets a brand new fall 2012 release date, while the Luc Besson-produced prison-break-in-outer-space LOCKOUT rethinks its original position in the winter and opts for warmer weather.
First up, LOOPER, starring
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Piper Perabo, Garrett Dillahunt, Paul Dano, and Xu Qing, has been given a SEPTEMBER 28, 2012 launch. It currently has no competition on that date.
LOOPER is a time-travel action thriller involves a killer (Gordon-Levitt) who works for the mob of the future. He, along with other so-called Loopers, dispose of people that are sent from the future. When he recognizes one victim as his future self (Willis), he hesitates, letting the man escape.
Next is LOCKOUT, which stars Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace. Directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, the film was once scheduled to hit on FEBRUARY 24, 2012, but has now been moved to APRIL 13th of that year. That moves it away from the Amanda Seyfried-led mystery GONE into a slot that features no direct competition. Also gives it a minor head start on the summer movie season.
LOCKOUT tells the story of a falsely convicted ex-government agent (Pearce) whose only chance of freedom is to accept a dangerous mission to rescue the president’s daughter (Grace) from rioting prisoners at an outer space maximum security prison.
