Well folks we all know Rob Zombie’s next flick is the Salem, MA-based LORDS OF SALEM but it seems what we didn’t know is that the film actually won’t be filming until later this year. With all the SFX news updates and scouting shots we just assumed it would start filming sooner, but alas that is not the case.
This news comes from a recent interview Billboard did with Mr. Zombie where it was revealed that the rocker/filmmaker is planning on hitting the road for a tour this Summer before settling in Salem, Massachusetts for the film’s production. According to Billboard Zombie expects filming and production to last into 2012. Scope out what Zombie had to say to Billboard regarding the film:
“I’m very excited about this one. It’s a very different film. It’s more of a slow, psychological burn as opposed to a physically violent kind of movie.”
Works for me. Here’s hoping the wait is worth it!
Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs at a local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the “Big H Radio Team”.
A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, “a gift from the Lords”. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.
Later Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners.
The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H Team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting: the original Lords of Salem are returning, and they’re out for BLOOD.
Location scouting, casting and SFX work continues to roll on LORDS OF SALEM so we should be expecting a lot more updates on the project before Zombie actually gets filming. As always any LORDS OF SALEM news that comes our way will most definitely be passed along to all of you.
