The latest offering from Dark Sky Films and Larry Fessenden’s Glass Eye Pix (STAKE LAND, THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL) is James Felix McKinney’s HYPOTHERMIA, which stars Michael Rooker and a creepy underwater creature. The film had a promo trailer shown at Cannes recently, and those lucky sonsofguns at Twitch got their hands on a nice copy of it. Even luckier for us, it’s embeddable, so you can peek at it below.
Starring Rooker, Blanche Baker, Greg Finley, Don Wood, Ben Forster and Amy Chang, HYPOTHERMIA has the official synopsis: The story takes place in Maine in the dead of winter. Ray Pelletier and his wife Helen have been ice fishing the frozen expanse of Lake Noyade for over two decades but this year something is different: no fish bite. Is it their new neighbors on the ice — Stevie Jr. and his overbearing Dad — with their high-tech gear and over-sized rig that is driving the fish away? Or is it something else? The answer comes in an onslaught of ferocious attacks that unites the two families against a mysterious creature from under the ice.
What I like about this is that it appears to be an updated version of a ’50s monster movie, right down to the man-in-a-rubber-suit. Watch the promo teaser and let us know what you think.
