Alright so we know filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra is gearing up to bring us a new adaptation of DRACULA with HARKER, but what we don’t know is how Collet-Serra will be tackling the genre legend. With all the vampire flicks out there today it’s really hard to imagine how epic ‘Dracula’ really is, or used to be. Collet-Serra promises to change that.

In a recent interview with Aullidos the director talked a bit about HARKER and what direction he’ll be going with the ‘Dracula’ character. Check it:

“Basically we intend to make a film based on Stoker’s Dracula, and I have to pay respect to the source material. That means you can save all those romantic vampire conventions for the thirteen-year-old girls. My Dracula will demonstrate who is boss and kick the asses of other vampires.”

Finally! Here’s hoping Collet-Serra comes through with that promise. Hell the last ‘Dracula’ I remember seeing was from BLADE: TRINITY.. and we all know how that turned out. So it’s pretty damn exciting hearing that Collet-Serra is planning on bringing us a boss, ass-kicking ‘Dracula’ in HARKER.

HARKER focuses on Jonathan Harker, the Scotland Yard detective who is tracking Dracula, and the script sets up the sleuth as a potential new franchise character.

HARKER is coming our way from the producing team of Mad Hatter Entertainment and Appian Way’s Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran. Unfortunately there’s still no telling when HARKER will officially get underway but here’s hoping it’s sooner rather than later!
