So how do you guys feel about all this TERMINATOR comeback hooplah? It seems Arnold Schwarzenegger decides he’d like to do another TERMINATOR flick and everybody jumps. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against the idea… I just find it funny how quick it all came together. Or at least started to.
It’s no secret that Pacificor was shopping the franchise around with Arnold and director Justin Lin all part of the package deal, so who snatched that shite up? Well according to Deadline New York the auction came right down to the wire in a battle between Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Films and Lionsgate. Actually it seemed Lionsgate was the front-runner until Ellison came out of nowhere with a dramatic bid, which has yet to be announced. And everyone lived happily ever after.
That’s right folks, Ellison and her Annapurna Films won that shite! Gotta love an underdog win. But wait a minute… What the hell is Annapurna Films? Kind of reminiscent of when Pacificor snatched up the rights years ago huh? And we all know how that turned out. So what do we have in store for us with this new deal?
Unfortunately absolutely no details on the actual plot of the next film have been released but we do know Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back to reprise his iconic role, not just in CG this time, with Justin Lin directing. Apparently it’s also been announced that Annapurna Films’ deal is for at least two TERMINATOR films, so there’s that.
So what says you guys? You digging the underdog Annapurna Films coming out of nowhere to snatch this shite up or would you rather have seen the franchise in more familiar hands like Lionsgate?
