That’s right people, time to get excited. We’ve been teased before but this is looking like it’s the real deal. You know what they say: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. John Carpenter’s THE WARD, which we’ve been talking about for a long ass time, previously had a US release date of April 15th but that shite was quickly snatched away. Now here I sit with news on the actual release date for this little shindig. About time right?
It seems THE WARD is gearing up to hit video-on-demand starting June 8th before smashing it’s way into theaters on July 8th. No idea what this whole thing with hitting VOD before theaters is about but we’ll roll with it.
Kristen, a beautiful but troubled young woman, who finds herself bruised, cut, drugged, and held against her will in a remote ward of a Psychiatric Hospital. She is completely disoriented, with no idea why she was brought to this place and no memory of her life before being admitted. All she knows is that she isn’t safe.
The other patients in the ward, four equally disturbed young women, offer no answers, and Kristen quickly realizes things are not as they seem. The air is heavy with secrets, and at night, when the hospital is dark and foreboding, she hears strange and frightening sounds. It appears they are not alone.
One-by-one the other girls begin to disappear and Kristen must find a way out of this hellish place before she, too, becomes a victim. As she struggles to escape, she will uncover a truth far more dangerous and horrifying than anyone could have imagined.
THE WARD stars Amber Heard (below), Danielle Panabaker, Mika Boorem, Jared Harris, Mamie Gummer, Laura-Leigh, Sydney Sweeney, Sean Cooke, Milos Milicevic and Jillian Kramer. Not too shabby eh? At least we’ve got some hotties to stare at if this thing ends up sucking.
