Clooney and Aronofsky? A match made in cinematic heaven?
With ample time to weigh his options after leaving WOLVERINE, Oscar nominated director Darren Aronofsky is marking his aim on a 15 year old sci-fi script called HUMAN NATURE. Said script was inked by the relatively obscure Jeff Welch, who at one point wrote an unproduced DR. STRANGE feature screenplay.
HUMAN NATURE, which is said to have garnered attraction from star George Clooney, focuses on a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species.
Sounds pretty gnarly huh, even if somewhat reminiscent of THE MATRIX and PLANET OF THE APES.
Of course, Clooney and Aronofsky are no strangers to the cosmos. The former did his thing in SOLARIS, while the latter had quite the visual approach to future space-time in THE FOUNTAIN. Both films were met tepidly, but HUMAN NATURE definitely sounds like it has more of a genre bent than the others. Guess we’ll see how it all pans out, if these two dudes officially sign on that is.
But let’s speculate. How do you see an Aronofsky/Clooney pairing working out? We know Aronofsky can be rough on his actors (just ask Mick Rourke), and we know Clooney doesn’t idly take shite from his directors (just ask David O’Rusell). How do you think the two gents will get along for HUMAN NATURE?
