It looks like CBS Films has just acquired the U.S. distribution rights to THE WOMAN IN BLACK, the Hammer Film title that stars Daniel Radcliffe, Ciaran Hinds and Janet McTeer. Word is the studio made a lofty offer to secure the rights from other interested parties, including Summit, TWC and Relativity. Hopefully CBS tags the film with a release date sooner than later!
Directed by James Watkins, from a script-adaptation by Jane Goldman – THE WOMAN IN BLACK stars Daniel Radcliffe as Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer who travels to a remote village to organize a recently deceased client’s papers. As Kipps works alone in the client’s isolated house, he begins to uncover tragic secrets, his unease growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black. Receiving only silence from the locals, Kipps is forced to uncover the true identity of the Woman in Black on his own, leading to a desperate race against time when he discovers her true intent.
Shaun Dooley, Cathy Sara, Mary Stockley, Roger Allam, Liz White, Lucy May Barker, Tim McMullan, Alisa Khazanova, Daniel Cerqueira, David Burke and Victor McGuire also star in the flick.
THE WOMAN IN BLACK hits the U.K. February 10th, 2012.
