I have mixed feelings about the prospect of a new TERMINATOR film, especially in the hands of director Justin Lin. For starters, I’m one of the people who believe that it’s time to lay this franchise to rest, as we’ve gotten just as many poor movies as we have good ones (that’s in my estimation, anyway). To add to that, I have nothing invested in Lin as a director. I know that he’s able to handle what he needs to on the FAST AND FURIOUS movies, but is he an interesting or exciting choice for the TERMINATOR? (No more or less interesting than Jonathan Mostow or McG, I suppose you could argue.)
That said, I can’t ignore the deep-down feeling of teenage boy joviality I get when thinking about Arnie once again playing his quintessential role. Yes, he’s older (and I’m not sure how they plan on dealing with that unavoidable truth), but it just feels so right. If Schwarzenegger is getting back into the acting game, he most certainly has to play the Terminator one last (?) time.
And who else will join him? Perhaps that’s just an crucial a question when considering a new TERMINATOR, and if what I’ve just read turns out to have merit, this could be a most unusual entry into the franchise.
In an article over at Latino Review we get this interesting rumor: The “entire original cast” is attached to it, not just Arnie.
This piece of info was apparently given to them by a “real source”, although unfortunately it’s unclear who from the original cast is being referenced. Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn (who just commented to us here)? Guess that’s a fair bet.
All rumor for now, but it’s worth rubbing your chin over. All I know is they’d better get moving on this thing, because none of them are getting any younger. Same goes for the rest of us.
