Eerie, good-looking teaser for French ghost story Behind the Walls

I do love a movie like this. BEHIND THE WALLS (Derrière les murs) calls to mind such sumptuous supernatural tales as THE OTHERS, THE ORPHANAGE and THE WOMAN IN BLACK (the original, but perhaps the Daniel Radcliffe-led remake as well); classy period pieces that also function as bone-rattling thrillers. Hopefully the directing duo of Julien Lacombe and Pascal Sid have made as something gorgeously terrifying as the new teaser hints. Watch it below and take a glance at a handful of stills, courtesy of Allocine.

Starring Laetitia Casta, Thierry Neuvic and Jacques Bonnaffé, the BEHIND THE WALLS has the following synopsis: Centre of France, 1922. Suzanne , a young novelist lacking inspiration decides to isolate herself in the countryside to write her new book. As Suzanne discovers a sealed-up room in the basement of her house, she starts writing oddly easily. Visions and nightmares soon strike her while the villagers grow worried as several little girls mysteriously disappear…

The film comes out on JULY 6th in France; no word yet on a roll out, but hopefully we’ll get to peep it soon after.
