Casting is really heating up on THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, as evidenced by the flurry of names being added to the flick in recent weeks. While the big roles and their actors are common knowledge (Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt), the time has come to fill in the supporting parts. (Here is the most recent update on that front.) The latest actor to get ther name dropped is Nestor Carbonell.

Carbonell is no stranger to Gotham City, however. In fact, he’s the goddamn Mayor! The actor (who is also recognizable for his performance as the ageless Richard in “Lost”) will reprise the role as the (nameless?) Mayor in TDKR.

Carbonell joins Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata. Diego Klattenhoff and Burn Gorman in the film, which is set to shoot in Pittsburgh this summer. It has a JULY 20, 2012 release date planned.
