Child’s Play remake rumor debunked, not happening yet

Last week word spread that the long-gestured CHILD’S PLAY remake was supposedly gearing up to enter production later this year. We warned you to take the news with a grain of salt, and rightfully so: the rumor has already been debunked.

MGM confirms that it is merely a rumor for now, while the study focuses on THE HOBBIT, the new James Bond flick and the ROBOCOP remake. It sounds like we’ll see Chucky on the big screen again eventually, just not this soon.

No word on whether or not the rights issues between MGM and Universal have been worked out. If and when the remake does happen, series writer Don Mancini has a script penned and would like to direct. Brad Dourif is supposedly on board to voice the pint-sized killer once again.

There were apparently rumors floating around that JEEPERS CREEPERS 3 was secretly shooting in Los Angeles, and naturally that was denied as well. Writer/director Victor Salva has been trying to get the sequel off the ground for years now with very little progress.
