Things get bloody and gooey in this clip for Hammer Films’ Wake Wood

I’m much anticipating Hammer’s latest effort WAKE WOOD, which is set to hit theaters in the UK later this month and DVD right around the same time. Looks like a good old-fashioned “village full of pagan crazies” movie, the kind the studio used to make back in their golden age.

Empire Online has just debuted the first clip from the film, and it’s suitably weird. It features Timothy Spall going about some ungodly ritual that is sure to provide dastardly results and the two folks (Aiden Gillen, Eva Birthistle) who will most certainly regret ever getting involved with him. (Give it a look below.)

Still grieving the death of their only child Alice at the jaws of a crazed dog, vet Patrick and pharmacist Louise relocate to the remote town of Wake Wood where a local pagan ritual gives them three more precious days with her… but what will they do when it’s time for their new daughter to go back?

WAKE WOOD
hits the UK on MARCH 25th, then gets a DVD release a few days later, on the 28th. We’re still awaiting word on a North American release plan, but it’s supposedly hitting our shores later in the spring.
