It’s been about six weeks since last hearing of Len Wiseman’s TOTAL RECALL reboot, when confirmation came that a). Colin Farrell is indeed lined up to play Quaid, and b). the film will NOT be made in 3D. Well, now we know exactly when the flick will be released.
F*ck it, let’s get right to the point. From a Sony/Columbia press release, TOTAL RECALL will come to theaters on August 3rd, 2012.
As we can tell, only THE BOURNE LEGACY is due the same day. Wonder which flick will accrue more dough?!?
From the same presser, he’s a description of TOTAL RECALL and those involved:
Total Recall is a new, contemporized reimagining of the science fiction saga. The film will be directed by Len Wiseman and produced by Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe, with Ric Kidney on-board as executive producer. The short story “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick served as the source for the 1990 Motion Picture screen story by Ronald Shusett & Dan O’Bannon and Jon Povill and screenplay by Ronald Shusett & Dan O’Bannon and Gary Goldman, with the updated screenplay being written by Kurt Wimmer and Mark Bomback and James Vanderbilt.
No further casting news is available at this point, but with the film officially slated for release, you can bet we’re gonna start hearing more as the film moves along.
TOTAL RECALL is due August 3rd, 2012.
