Has it really been more than a year since first hearing of Danny Boyle’s London stage production of FRANKENSTEIN? Good grief!

Well, previews for the show have officially started! For Boyle, it’s the first time directing a play in 15 years…and thankfully for us yanks, FRANKENSTEIN will broadcast live via satellite in high-def to 370 cinemas globally on March 17th, including 85 sites in the U.S. The play also will be broadcast to the UK and Europe on March 24th. The live show will run in London through May.

In a rather avant-garde move, Boyle is having multiple actors alternate the role of Victor Frankenstein, with Johnny Lee Miller headlining. With the shows likely to sell out quickly, here’s a way for a broader audience to see the production. It is however, a new exhibition model, marking only the 10th time doing live transmission (which kick-started with the 2009 production of PHAEDRA, starring Helen Mirren).

As for Boyle’s cinematic career, he’s currently hitting the black-tie events for 127 HOURS (which is nominated for Best Picture). He then oversees the massive 2012  Olympics in London before hopefully getting back on board with 28 MONTHS LATER.

So, if 127 HOURS is Boyle’s last film for awhile, will you be making an effort to see his version of FRANKENSTEIN in theaters? Would you either way?
