Halle-fuckin’-lujah!

After one story on Miley Cyrus and another on RED RIDING HOOD, this story couldn’t be more welcome!

Variety has it that DISTRICT 9 producer Bill Block – who’s already teaming with Sam Raimi to bring us EARTH DEFENSE FORCE (EDF) – is now aligning himself with yet another film about threatening extraterrestrials. It’s called ALIEN SLEEPER CELL. Sound intriguing or what?

Teaming with Prime Universe Production’s Adrian Askarieh, Block has tapped longtime film and TV editor Morgan Davis Foehl to pen the script – which is said to revolve around “otherworldly beasties.” No other details are known at this time, but we’ll get them to you as soon as we hear of some.

Foehl’s certainly an interesting hire though, he’s really only served as assistant editor on a handful of projects dating back to 2004 (CLICK, “Rescue Me”, etc.). His adaptation of the Top Cow comic CROSSHAIR has been garnering serious buzz, as is his Blacklisted 2009 screenplay WHATEVER GETS YOU THROUGH THE NIGHT. Still, it seems like a giant leap of faith for Block and Askarieh, don’t you think?

As soon as Foehl inks the script, Block’s QED International will package the project and seek independent financing/partnership to help fund the flick.

Until we land more, let us know which of Block’s new alien yarns sounds more fun to watch…EDF or ALIEN SLEEPER CELL?
