Last month we got the news that TAKEN director Pierre Morel was being eyed for the OUIJA directing job. Well it’s been about a month and it seems Morel is still the front runner, or so says The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog.
The site reports that Morel is very close to scoring the gig, stating that the director will be presenting his OUIJA pitch to Universal. This comes after Universal have already heard pitches from Sylvain White, Scott Stewart and John Moore. So as you can see Morel has got his work cut out for him.
But that’s not all! On the off chance OUIJA doesn’t work out Morel is also setting his sites on Warner Bros. EARTH DEFENSE FORCE, which is coming at us from producers Sam Raimi and Bill Block. Both projects are of high priority at their respective studios as is Morel’s services. So which project will the director be tackling? Only time will tell.
Now while we haven’t been offered a synopsis for OUIJA yet we do have a rundown for EARTH DEFENSE FORCE. Check it: The story is set after three alien fighters attack the planet, leaving countries humiliated. The governments of Earth then race to create a space fighting force in preparation for a second attack by an approaching alien horde.
So what do you guys think? Do you have a project you’d rather see Morel tackle or could you care less? Hit us with your thoughts on this whole thing below and keep it here for more on both projects as we hear it!
