Well folks I’m coming to you on this relatively slow news day to bring you news on a thriller heading our way courtesy of filmmaker extraordinaire Darren Aronofsky. The project I’m talking about is THE TIGER, which is based on the non-fiction novel of the same name by John Vaillant. Now ever since Aronofsky’s ROBOCOP troubles have seemed to put that project on the shelf there’s been speculation as to what other projects the director would be tackling… Needless to say I think it’s a safe bet that THE TIGER will be one of those films.

You see scribe Guillermo Arriaga, who adapted THE TIGER, recently chatted away with Quien about the project. Now the guys over at The Playlist were kind enough to translate the goods for us so we’re going to go ahead and share that shite with you right now! Apparently scouting on THE TIGER is set to happen later this year with producer Brad Pitt eyeing a starring role in the film. But that’s not all! It seems Pitt’s main squeeze Angelina Jolie is also being eyed for a role in the film, well according to Arriaga that is.

Taking place in 1997, THE TIGER follows an animal activist who must protect the small Siberian town he is in when a tiger begins attacking its inhabitants.

Now mind you Jolie’s involvement in the flick is far from a definite thing. Actually Pitt’s involvement in more than a producing capacity is also yet to be confirmed but we’re going to go ahead and run with this for now anyway. I mean come on… A Darren Aronofsky flick about a killer tiger that stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (below)?! How is this not money?! I know I’d pay good money to see this shite, as I’m sure most of you would too!

Now unfortunately there’s no confirmation on any of this so we’ve got to take that for what it’s worth for now. If Jolie does indeed sign on for the film production probably won’t start until late Spring/early Summer 2011 thanks to her busy schedule. That means Aronofsky should have time to tackle another project beforehand, but what could it be? PREACHER perhaps? Only time will tell.

As always we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for more on THE TIGER, or any other Aronofsky project for that matter, so be sure to keep it here for mores updates as they come our way!
