One flick I’ve secretly been keeping an eye on is David R. Ellis’ SHARK NIGHT 3D. I couldn’t even really tell you why either… Maybe it’s because I’m actually a pretty big fan of Ellis’ and I’m hoping SHARK NIGHT turns into a entertaining flick ala DEEP BLUE SEA. Now it’s going to be a while before we see enough to decide that but the project took a step in the right direction today, picking up the first four names of it’s cast!
So who’re the lucky sons of bitches that’ll be battling sharks for Mr. Ellis? Well according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog it’s Sinqua Walls, Chris Carmack, Alyssa Diaz and Joel David Moore! Walls is playing a Tulane University linebacker with plans on marrying his college sweetheart, who’s played by Diaz (below). Carmack is the ex-boyfriend of the female lead, still uncast, who was scarred in a boating accident. Moore (above) is providing the comic relief as a socially awkward guy who fancies himself a young Brad Pitt.
The story revolves around seven men and women who spend a weekend at a lake house in Louisiana’s Gulf area. When their vacation quickly becomes a nightmare of hellish shark attacks, unheard of in freshwater lakes, they soon discover that the sharks are part of a sick, greedy plan on the part of several locals.
Now I’m a decent fan of Mr. David Moore’s so I can go ahead and jump on board with this casting annoucement. What says you guys? Hit us with your thoughs below and keep it here for more on SHARK NIGHT 3D, which is starting production next month in Lousiana.
