Paul Solet and Stephen Susco bringing Deathdream back to life

GRACE is one film I just couldn’t get on board with, and I know I’m in the minority. The Paul Solet-directed, Adam Green-produced flick about a baby that needs blood, and the mother who provides it, just left me feeling cold; depressed instead of disturbed. (It also really struggled to hold my interest in the 2nd Act.) That said, I ackowledge that Solet showed promise in terms of creating an ominous atmosphere, so I’m more that willing to give the director another chance…

It would appear as though he’s got his follow-up film set with ZERO DARK THIRTY, a remake of the Bob Clark flick DEATHDREAM. That film concerned a soldier thought dead who returns from the Vietnam War a bloodthirsty ghoul. The film was written by Stephen Susco (writer of the first two GRUDGE films) and his partner John Stalberg Jr.; Fangoria had a chat with Susco at Fantasia Fest and got him to spill a few beans about the project:

“… Paul is our director, and he has revised my script and done an absolutely brilliant job — he took a few things that I thought were strengths and revealed that they were in fact weaknesses, and made it even better. If things work out, we might be shooting by the end of the year.”
