Oh CONSTANTINE 2… what a tease you’ve been. The sequel to Francis Lawrence’s 2005 film has been in the works for years, with nothing ever coming from it. Hell the last we heard star Keanu Reeves wasn’t even down for the sequel anymore. So what’s the deal?
Well the guys over at Bloody-Disgusting were wondering the same thing so when they had the chance to chat it up with producer Lauren Shuler Donner at this year’s Saturn Awards they just had to ask: What’s up with CONSTANTINE 2?
“I hope [it happens]. I want to. We tried it, we always got there, and then we had a few bumps in the road. Keanu was involved with us, everybody was. We just had a few bumps in the road. …… We’re gonna try again…we heard a good take.”
So there you have it. I’d say that’s a pretty solid fact that CONSTANTINE 2 is far from dead. You think they still have a shot at Keanu? Considering that last CONSTANTINE update came over two years ago I’d say things have changed quite a bit… I mean, Keanu is awesome and all but what’s the dude working on now? He does have that intriguing JEKYLL AND HYDE flick in the works but I’d say his schedule seems pretty open. Unless of course he signs on for a BILL AND TED sequel… which would bring tears of joy to my face… … Anyway…
Alas I’m sure if things get rolling Keanu will be along for the ride. Would they even dare do it without him? Hit us with your opinions below and keep it here as we wait to see if things stick this time around for CONSTANTINE 2!
