You guys remember that project WRONG TURN 2 director Joe Lynch is working on? It’s called KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM and sounds all kinds of awesome. Oh yeah, you guys remember it. Well today we’ve got a bit of an update for the flick in the form of a couple new names joining the cast!
Access Hollywood recently caught up with “True Blood’s” Ryan Kwanten to talk shop on a number of upcoming projects the young actor has lined up. In addition to “True Blood” Season 3 it seems Kwanten (below) will be stepping into our genre with another project heading our way: KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM! That’s right folks. Via the article it was announced that both Kwanten and Steve Zahn would be joining the project! The two actors join Peter Dinklage in the growing cast.
A huge group of dedicated, costumed LARP-ers (Live Action Role-Players) , dressed like knights, elves & various characters, give up their cell phones and take to the woods for the Central New Jersey Knights of Badassdom Adventure Society, where they are set to re-enact a dungeons and dragons scenario right out of the mythical Middle Ages.
After being dumped by his sexy girlfriend Beth, Joe reluctantly decides to join Eric and his Larping friends in the woods rather than stay behind and feel sorry for his newly single status. There he meets hot, ass-kicking, intimidating huntress LARPer Gwen, and finds himself a surreal adventure wilder than he ever imagined when a make-believe wizard casts an all-too-real spell from an ancient book he bought on EBay, releasing an actual demon with a taste for human blood — and souls — that starts systematically decimating the players in this suddenly deadly “game.” Will our guys become the heroes they have been pretending to be before time runs out?
Now I dig Kwanten’s work on “True Blood” as ‘Jason Stackhouse’ and I’ve always been a fan of Zahn’s (above)… but I just can’t stand Dinklage. I’m sorry but the dude is way too serious. I like actors that can poke fun at themselves every now and then and Dinklage just doesn’t seem to be that guy. It seems every project the dude is in he’s got to be talking down to someone, no pun intended. To each their own I suppose but I’m not a fan. Now that that’s out of the way let’s continue. Kwanten had the following to say to Access Hollywood regarding BADASSDOM:
“It’s sort of a comedy… like ‘Shaun of the Dead’ meets ‘Role Models. It’s that real black comedy that I really love.”
SHAUN OF THE DEAD meets ROLE MODELS sounds like something awesome! Let’s hope that comparison follows through. KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM is set to start filming this Summer so be sure to keep it here for more on the horror/comedy as we hear it.
