Just a few days ago we learned that George A. Romero would be remaking Dario Argento’s DEEP RED. This immediately got people talking. They want to know the where, what, why, when and how! Can you blame them? Of course one guy we didn’t expect to start talking was George A. Romero.
But alas the legendary director recently sat down with Fangoria to talk shop regarding SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD, but the subject quickly changed. Can you guess to what? That’s right! DEEP RED! When Fango asked Romero about the proposed remake, he responded with:
“Right now there’s no deal and I wouldn’t want to be… I won’t do it if Dario [Argento] doesn’t approve.”
So there you have it. Right now there’s no deal in place but Romero definitely seems interested. Romero goes on to ponder what he’d do with a DEEP RED remake and offers his distaste for remakes as a whole. So do you think Argento will give the ‘Ok?’ Hopefully we find out soon!
