We’ve been told numerous times that Magnolia Pictures would be releasing [REC] 2 in US theaters this July (see our last update HERE), and while that’s all fine and dandy, we haven’t been told what the exact official date actually is. Until now.
Magnolia Pictures will be releasing [REC] 2 in (limited) theaters July 9, 2010, right up against Robert Rodriguez’s PREDATORS. It’s great that we finally have a release date instead of just the ambitious ‘July’ date, but putting it in direct competition with PREDATORS seems like a ludicrous idea to me. Insane, really. Then again, at least it’s getting a release date, right?
As a recap, [REC] 2 goes like this: The action continues from the first film, with the medical officer and a SWAT team outfitted with video cameras are sent into the sealed off apartment to control the situation.
Let’s hope those turned away due to sold out PREDATORS shows are still about to in and see [REC] 2. Get ready for [REC] 2 in limited theaters everywhere July 9, 2010.
