One of my favorite actors working today is the always entertaining Sam Rockwell. One of my favorite director’s working today is the never disappointing Jon Favreau. Now the two are teaming for this weekend’s IRON MAN 2… but that’s not what I’m here to tell you about. Oh no, no.
It seems, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog, that Rockwell and Favreau will be teaming once again for next Summer’s COWBOYS AND ALIENS! This has me colored pink because anytime I see Rockwell’s name in a new project it has my interest. I’m sure most of you out there are the same exact way. Did Rockwell tear it up in MOON or what? Damn right he did!
Rockwell joins Daniel Craig, Noah Ringer, Olivia Wilde (below) and Harrison Ford in the film. Some cast right?! He’ll be playing ‘a bar owner named Doc who joins in the pursuit of the aliens.’ Favreau and writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindel actually retooled the character once they heard Rockwell was interested, expanding it and ditching the previous ‘heavy-set man’ description. Nice! Who in their right mind wouldn’t expand a role Sam Rockwell (above) was interested in? Smart move Favs!
The sci-fi Western, based on the Platinum Studios Comics graphic novel, explores what would happen if the traditional Old West enemies — cowboys and Native Americans — found the prairie attacked by aliens in mid-1800s Arizona.
Scott Mitchell Rosenberg is producing this shite along with super-producers Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. Plans are to start filming next month so be sure to keep it here for more as we hear it!
