Last month our man JP dropped dime that Momentum Pictures locked the U.K. distribution rights for Patrick Hughes’ Aussie revenge thriller RED HILL. Today, it’s become clear that Sony has done the same for all U.S. distribution rights for the film (Variety). Take that Momentum!

After two impressive showings at this year’s European Film Market and Berlin International Film Festival, RED HILL has obviously become a hot property. Good thing too, as we not only love good revenge flick around these parts, any time that rare hybrid of horror-western (in this case thriller-western) rears its purdy head, we take aim!

The flick marks Patrick Hughes’ feature length debut, both as writer and director. “True Blood’s” Ryan Kwanten stars in the film, doing so along with Steve Bisley, Kevin Harrington, Tommy Lewis and Claire van der Boom (below).

Synopsis: A young police officer must survive his first day’s duty in a small country town, which includes dealing with a convicted murderer seeking revenge.

No release date is known for RED HILL as of now.
