There has been tons of talk about a 300 prequel or sequel ever since the first flick hit the film world like a sonic boom; I never believed it would actually materialize, but it sure does look like it might. In an interview with Comingsoon.net, Zack Snyder confirms that, indeed, he’s waiting to see what Frank Miller comes up with in the graphic novel version, and it looks like it might be Snyder’s next project.

“After “Sucker Punch,” I’m waiting on Frank (Miller) for the sequel to “300,” and there’s a really good chance that will be the thing we do. He’s been working hard, yup, he absolutely has so he’s supposed to show me something really soon, actually in the next few months, he’s going to show me something.”

Apparently, the story will be about the rise of Xerces (played by Rodrigo Santoro in the first film) and the Battle of Marathon, which took place in 490 BC during the first Persian invasion of Greece.

Oh, it should also be noted that, to nobody’s surprise, 300 is being retooled in 3D, with a re-release planned. Snyder has evidently seen some of it already and is quite impressed. Might be too much beefcake to handle if you ask me… The director is currently in post-production on two movies: SUCKER PUNCH and the awkwardly-titled THE LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS: THE OWLS OF GA’HOOLE.
