Ron Perlman, not Mickey Rourke, to play Conan’s Dad!

Boy do I feel like an dumb-shite!

Roughly three weeks ago we, or I, hit you with a confirmation report that favored Mickey Rourke as the man to play Jason Mamoa’s father in Marcus Nispel’s CONAN rehash. And though we made mention of Rourke possibly being torn between signing on to this project or co-staring alongside Freida Pinto in Tarsem Singh’s DAWN OF WAR (aka WAR OF THE GODS), we figured the conflicting schedules for the two films would naturally iron themselves out.

Well friends, such is not the case. In fact, Rourke has not only opted to join Pinto in Singh’s sword & sandal epic, word is Hellboy himself, Mr. Ron Perlman (right) is the man to fill Rourke’s place as Conan’s papa Corin. No, really.

The fact that Perlman has been added to the cast may not seem like news to you, especially if you read Ammon’s article today about Said Taghmaoui being the newest member to join the production. However, that Perlman is replacing Rourke as Conan’s pops is what we’re focusing on here, and I’m not sure about you, but I really don’t mind the substitution. Rourke’s badass, we all know that, but he has enough high profile action epics in the pipeline to keep us entertained for some time to come. Besides, it’s f*ckin’ Hellboy we’re talkin’ about here!

But to hell with my thoughts, how do YOU all feel about this development?

CONAN looks to lens in Bulgaria later this month.

Interestingly enough, Ron Perlman voices the character of Conan of Cimmeria, doing so alongside MILF-Tastic Marge Helgenberger in CONAN: RED NAILS!
