We all know Robert Rodriguez has plans to restore all that is right and good in the world of Arnie-less PREDATORS. Sure, he’s producing and not directing the film, but make no mistake…the dude is clearly lending a large hand in bringing Nimrod Antal’s vision to the big screen. That’s why we’re more than excited to talk about NERVERACKERS, a science fiction film Rodriguez looks to return to after scheduling snafus previously left the project out in the cold. Peep this shite…
According to Empire (via The Playlist), Rodriguez is still very interested in helming the Mexican-set sci-fi effort, which was tabled due to the main star of the film’s scheduling conflict. In Rodriguez’s own words:
“It seems chaotic, but I’ve always been able to juggle…but I hate to pit all my energy into a project and then find out an actor’s not available and have to start over. ‘Nervewrackers’ was all ready to go, down to the costumes — I’m actually wearing the hero’s jacket right now — but the [actor] I had in mind got booked so we’re waiting for him. And in the meantime, I’ve got ideas on how to improve it. We try to hit every project a little bit every day.”
As far as what NERVERACKERS is about, here’s a synopsis we had for you back in August:
NERVERACKERS is set in the year 2085 and centers on the character Joe Tezca, part of an elite unit who is sent in to stop a crime wave amongst a perfect futuristic society. In the process, he discovers that ‘Nerverackers’ are on a rampage for control of the city. Tezca consequently sets forth on a mission to reveal the cover up by the ruling class and stop the ‘Nerverackers’ before time runs out.
Not bad, ay? Maybe has shades of MINORITY REPORT, or as Empire hails it: a cross between DESPERADO & BLADE RUNNER. Either way, with RR at the helm…this is the type of flick bound to end up in the director’s must see canon (as opposed to say, THE FACULTY. Or SPY KIDS).
So who do you think the “main star” was that back-burned NERVEWRACKERS (known as NERVERACKER on imdb) in the first place? Who would like to see in the lead of a flick like this? And for the love of blood, is it NERVERACKER or NERVERACKERS? Hell, I’ve even seen NERVEWRACKERS thrown out there.
Is Rodriguez still engaged to Rose McGowan (above)?!?
