So a couple weeks back our podcast hosting pimp Ammon wrote a pretty hysterical article on Chris Sparling’s spec script ATM, about a killer automated teller machine, being picked up by The Safran Company and Gold Circle Films. Well, looks like we just stuck our meat-hooks in a lengthier plot breakdown (courtesy of /Film).
Previously touted as a film that centers on three co-workers who — on a routine stop at an ATM — unexpectedly end up in a desperate fight for their lives, we now know this of the project:
Said to be a cross between FROZEN and PHONE BOOTH, The plot follows three co-workers who stop off at an ATM on the way home from a Christmas party. From there, the rest of the story is set primarily in the ATM vestibule, and never leaves the supermarket parking lot. Seems that they’re trapped by a menacing man in a hooded parka, with no way of escape.
Hmm? So it’s more of a confined location rather than a legit technological threat. Guess it makes sense given the fact Sparling wrote the one-man, one-setting flick BURIED directed by Rodrigo Cortes. Still, I had high hopes of an actual ATM going balls-out bananas on mothaf*ckers. Didn’t you?
As far as directing ATM goes, looks like the megaphone has been passed to the relatively green David Brooks, who has only directed shorts films up to this point.
