Just a few days ago our man JP relayed a tidbit about David Twohy and Vin Diesel reteaming for a third RIDDICK film, and despite not knowing exactly what avenue the storyline would travel, the general consensus seemed to be a positive one. Well, THR has just dredged a few story details for the new sci-fi-action entry, and I gotta tell ya…this shite sounds pretty damn amusing!

Twohy, who directed the first two “Riddick” features, will do so again, this time from a script written by himself. Though an exact plotline is still a bit roiled, here’s a preliminary rundown:

Though billed as a back-to-basics approach to the character popularized by Diesel, the script for RIDDICK features the character — the most wanted man in the galaxy — left for dead on a barren alien planet, dealing with “trisons” (three-legged bisons) and “mud demons.” He must then contend with two squads of bounty hunters, one of which ride rockets called jetcycles.

Trisons, mud demons and jetcycles? F*ckin hell, how can I not wanna see the flick now. I mean, this comes from someone who a.) can’t really stomach Vin Diesel in the first place, and b.) didn’t much care for either of the preceding films in the series (part a probably had something to do with that). But trisons, mud demons and jetcycles? Good God!

Universal will produce the project, with Lionsgate handling international sales.

Thandie Newton, the hot star of THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK!
