Hell yeah folks, the beast is finally here. Universal’s retelling of the classic WOLFMAN yarn actually comes out…tomorrow. No, really!
And as a nice companion piece to our very own Jimmy O’s exquisite sit-downs with the stars of the film (peep Tony Hopkins spouting philosophical HERE), we have a pair of lengthy, ass-kicking red-band clips from the flick to taunt your bloodlust. In French no less!
In addition, the first clip entitled “Howl of the Wolf,” correlates perfectly with a poll we recently featured asking what movie depicts the best werewolf transformation. Aside from AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (which was exempt from the poll), last time I checked there was a resounding lead for Joe Dante’s THE HOWLING. Deservedly so.
Here we get a painful looking transformation as Del Toro fights his way up a flight of dingy-lit dungeon stairs, with Sir Anthony doing all he can to console him. My guess is we’ll have to see the entire film to witness the full on metamorphosis in all its ghastly delight.
The second clip we have, entitled “Under Attack,” we’re shown quite a bit. As a hunting party suddenly becomes ravaged by werewolf, an unaffected Benicio goes on the offensive. It’s an action-packed clip, replete with finger mangling, torso gouging, and one dope ass money shot of a dude catching the wolf’s claws plum through the back of his throat. All beautiful shite, really!
