Some late news out of Variety has Rachel Weisz newly added to the cast of Jim Sheridan’s thriller DREAM HOUSE, for Morgan Creek Productions. I’d call this good to f*ckin’ great news!
Weisz joins Daniel Craig and Naomi Watts, who we learned signed on to the project two weeks ago.
Written by David Loucka, DREAM HOUSE revolves around a successful publisher (Craig) who quits his Gotham job and relocates his wife (Weisz) and two daughters to a quaint New England town, only to discover that their perfect new home was the murder scene of a mother and her two children. Watt’s plays a character who was a friend to the perished.
Universal will distribute the film, which looks to start filming this week in Toronto.
It’s pretty interesting that Sheridan is going this route. Here’s a guy who’s done anything but genre in flicks like MY LEFT FOOT and IN AMERICA, even last year’s BROTHERS is a difficult film to categorize. But hey, this dude has mad talent so maybe we should give him some room and let him do his thing. If the man avoids generic formula like he more or less did in THE BOXER, perhaps something truly good will come out of it.
And there’s always Watts and Weisz!
