You guys remember a couple weeks ago when Jake D. informed you all about Mr. James Wan’s upcoming project that isn’t titled CASTLEVANIA? Of course you do! James Wan is now, dare I say a legend in the genre thanks to some movie about a foot. So when the man’s name pops up I for one take notice!
I’m here to tell you all a bit more about Wan’s new flick, previously titled THE FURTHER. You see according to Variety the film, now titled INSIDIOUS, will be coming at us from Alliance Films and that Wan’s partner-in-crime Leigh Whannell will be penning the script! Throw on the fact that INSIDIOUS is coming from producers Jason Blum, Steven Schneider and PARANORMAL ACTIVTY director Oren Peli and we may just have something here!
You know… I’d just like to point out that this looks like an interesting little side-note in the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY v SAW saga considering Wan and Whannell created that damn franchise and are now making a film with the director of ACTIVITY. Funny how things turn out. Wan seems stoked about the project too, which is always a good sign! In response to what drew him to these three producers:
“…of their passion for genre films and having the creative control to make auteur-driven pictures.” Wan adds about Whannel’s script: “Leigh wrote a fantastic script that took a haunted house movie with all the usual conventions and twisted it on its head.” No actual plot is even hinted at but the leaked synopsis for THE FURTHER reads:
A young family makes the terrifying discovery that the body of their comatose boy has become a magnet for malevolent entities, while his consciousness lies trapped in the dark and insidious realm known as The Further.
