A rumor is floating around the internet, and while it could very well be true, it could also be a load of horse poop, so take this with a grain of salt. According to a source at Latino Review, Universal is itching to make DRACULA: YEAR ZERO for a 2012 release, with THE CROW director Alex Proyas attached at the helm, and Sam flippin’ Worthington set to star. Wow!

DRACULA: YEAR ZERO is an origins tale about Vlad the Impaler and how he became so savagely notorious that Bram Stoker based the character of Dracula on him in his classic tale. While I can see Proyas doing something new and going this route, I can’t see Worthington as Dracula, or even as Vlad the Impaler. I get that he’s hot shit right now, but Dracula? Really?

Apparently Universal is stuck between their parent company Comcast and a hard spot, just finding out they need a few more big budgeted movies lined up for 2012. Apparently DRACULA: YEAR ZERO’s budget is somewhere over $100M range. Yikes!

But, as stated early, this is just a rumor at this point, and could all be false… but it could be true, so keep that in mind as well. To check out the full scoop, click HERE, and stick around to see whether DRACULA: YEAR ZERO is for real, or just a figment of a crazy man’s imagination.

I wonder if Vlad had a trio of hoes following him around everywhere as well.
