Saw co-creator James Wan takes us Further with his new psychological horror film

What do ya’ guys and ghouls think of James Wan as a filmmaker? You know, the dude who co-created SAW (subsequently producing all 6 sequels) and directed DEAD SILENCE and DEATH SENTENCE in 2007. Let me pose it this way, if you knew the dude had another horror flick in the works, would you be stoked to see the damn thing? Sorry folks, I’m not talking about CASTLEVANIA (which Wan’s been attached to), I’m talking about a psychological horror flick known as THE FURTHER. Dig it…

It looks as if THE FURTHER will indeed be Wan’s next directorial effort, with Jason Blum (FANGLAND), Oren Peli (PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, AREA 51) and Steven Schneider (SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE, 2012) all set to produce.

According to Dread Central, the logline for THE FURTHER reads:

A young family makes the terrifying discovery that the body of their comatose boy has become a magnet for malevolent entities, while his consciousness lies trapped in the dark and insidious realm known as The Further.

Not bad, not bad at all!

While this tidbit comes as a bit of surprise given Wan’s involvement with the film adaptation of CASTLEVANIA (slated for 2011), I’m more shocked to see Oren Peli, after one feature as director (albeit a gargantuan one in terms of gross), in a position to produce flicks of his choosing. Two years ago the guy is shooting a flick in his bedroom for $5K, and is now producing high profile studio flicks? Talk about a meteoric rise!

DEAD SILENCE hottie Amber Valletta!
