Trailer and plot deets for Conor McPherson’s horror romance The Eclipse

If nothing outside of pallid crybaby vampires, one thing the whole TWILIGHT SAGA has ushered in is the romantic horror template which seems to be gaining traction these days. Just yesterday we ran down a flick called WARM BODIES that fits such a mold, and today we have some plot details and a first trailer for Conor McPherson’s ethereal love story THE ECLIPSE (see how the SAGA influences even titles?!?)

Written by McPherson himself, THE ECLIPSE picks up In a seaside Irish town, where a widower sparks with a visiting horror novelist while he also begins to believe he is seeing ghosts.

At first read of that plotline, I’m instantly struck with thoughts of the superlative 1944 ghost story THE UNINVITED (a flick whose makers should be embarrassed by the 2009 film of the same name), although that flick took place in an English seaside town, and had two siblings as the leads (in the story, not real life).

Anyway, THE ECLIPSE stars Ciaran Hinds, Iben Hjejle, Aidan Quinn, Dorothy Cotter, Eanna Hardwicke, Hannah Lynch, Jim Norton (WTF???) and Hilary O’Shaughnessy. Seriously, Jim Norton of Opie and Anthony fame in a flick of this ilk? That’s just priceless!

The flick has been hitting the festival circuit in the last year or so, including the Palm Springs International Film Festival just this month.

Check the trailer!

TWILIGHT’s Ashley Greene…fine!
