Priest teaser poster

Between LEGION and PRIEST, longtime visual effects man and directorial convert Scott Stewart looks to restore all things terrifying to the world of piety. Not that that world needs help mind you, but damn, this dude ain’t f*ckin’ around, as evidenced by the fresh teaser poster for the latter flick you’re seeing above (courtesy of Screen Gems).

PRIEST, which looks to speak to the masses come August 20, 2010 (a week earlier than originally slated), tells the story of a vigilant priest who skirts church law in order to serve bloody recompense to a horde of vampires who kidnapped his niece. Ah yes, vampires and revenge…looks like 2009 is bleeding seamlessly into the new year!

Penned by ink-virgins Cory Goodman and Min-Woo Hyung, PRIEST stars Paul Bettany in the title role (he’s also in LEGION), Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Karl Urban, Stephen Moyer, Brad Dourif, Lily Collins, Madchen Amick, and the great Christopher Plummer.

So which of the two religion-run-nightmare-amok flicks do you fancy more: PRIEST or LEGION? Given the cast and premise, I’m leaning toward the former at this point. Of course, seeing Ms. Q below, I may very well reconsider!

The always lovely Maggie Q!
