Are you by chance a fan of Richard Stanley’s 1990 horror/sci-fi mind-bender HARDWARE? If you are, looks like a tidy little X-mas package has arrived early, as the script for HARDWARE II: GROUND ZERO has hit the inter-web and is available for downloading (you can find it HERE)!

For those benighted, the original film saw:

A wandering soldier find a robot head in the post-apocalyptic desert. He brings it back to his girlfriend for use in one of her sculptures. He investigates the origin of the head, and discovers it’s from the Mark 13 project, canceled because of unreliability. His girlfriend, nay, society at large become endangered when the robot puts itself back together using the parts she has for her sculptures.

If you thought that kicked ass, peep this:

The Mark-13’s are in mass production. The US government is employing them to patrol the US-Mexican border and deal with illegal aliens. Shades returns to Earth after a series of space flight assignments. Feeling alone in the world, he decides to seek out Jill, who’s now living in a hippie colony in Splendora, Texas.

The colony consists of “destructuralists,” who beseech the human race to abandon all technology and re-unite with nature. As Shades and his newly-found companion, battle-scarred vet Lyle Maddox arrive to Splendora, they find Jill earnestly believing in the cause, but even she is oblivious to what ultimately lies beneath the peaceful colony. Something big enough to attract a phalanx of Mark-13 droids as well as a Mexican guerrilla leader, who thinks he’s channeling the spirit of Emilio Zapata…

Damn, talk about imagination!

Stanley is currently in pre-production on the Dean Cain starring VACATION, with THE BONES OF THE EARTH announced.

The real question is, how final is this draft of the script? Will there be a lot of changes between now and when the damn thing actually gets made? Guess we’ll see!

Big ups to everythingisundercontrol.org!
