As if you needed anther reason to check out AVATAR this weekend, word on the street is that a trailer for another upcoming 20th Century Fox film will be attached to some, if not all, prints of AVATAR. The film in question? Alexandre Aja’s PIRANHA 3D!
Talk about ingenious exposure on their part, as millions (if not billions) of people will be making their way to the theaters this weekend (and I’m sure the weeks to follow as well), all of which will be treated to a little trailer (or more likely a teaser of sorts) for PIRANHA 3D. Will the trailer be in 3D as well? That’s unclear at the moment, but I’m gonna have to say… no. It won’t. But that doesn’t mean it won’t be cool!
I’m gonna play the pessimist card only because the AVATAR trailer was attached to the FINAL DESTINATION 3D print I saw, and even though I was already equipped with my 3D glasses, the trailer was as 2D as you can get.
But I hope to god I’m wrong! I mean, talk about adding to the whole AVATAR experience, eh? And if the trailer hits theaters this Friday, expect the trailer online shortly thereafter. PIRANHA 3D, starring Elisabeth Shue, Steven McQueen, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss, and Christopher Lloyd, hits theaters everywhere April 16, 2010.
