There have been a number of theories as to why THE WOLFMAN has been delayed so many times, or why new editors were brought on board to recut the film, or why they dropped Danny Elfman’s score to go with a different composer. But I suppose we won’t really know the answer to any of those questions until the movie comes out.. if ever.
But that isn’t going to stop star Emily Blunt talk about the film and wouldn’t you know it, she has a theory about all the delays and whatnot too! Talking with STYD, Blunt had this to say about WOLFMAN, and her thoughts as to why more editors were brought on to the project:
I think with a film like that, because there are special effects and it’s a big movie, you can’t accelerate its release date. It’s not fair and so I think it just needed some more time. They needed to cook a little bit more… I don’t know what happens behind those scenes. I think it’s important to get as many influences as possible of a film of that scale, with that much effects that need to take place.
Basically a cookie-cutter response, and nothing less than what I would expect. The movie is amazing, everyone working on it is amazing, if it’s taking longer than usual it’s because the film is so amazing… right.
For our sake, I hope Blunt is right. I hope this movie will blow us away, and I hope all these delays and other BTS dramas were worth it come February 12, 2010, when THE WOLFMAN finally makes its way into theaters. In the meantime, be sure to check out all of what Blunt had to say HERE, and dish your own theories about THE WOLFMAN below!
