With December officially upon us, and only a mere 10 days from limited U.S. release (Dec. 11, then goes wide Jan. 15, 2010), DreamWorks is diligently rolling out all things THE LOVELY BONES. And it looks like the cool cats over at Moviefone have landed another clip from the film, which we have for your viewing pleasure below!
In the clip we see Mark Wahlberg’s (trying to rebound from the mind-numbingly bad performance in THE HAPPENING) character facing off with his daughter Susie (Saoirse Ronin), more or less exhibiting the emotional crux of the picture. There’s a sad beauty in the clip, with the fatherly words of wisdom no doubt a clever bit of foreshadowing (I think Wahlberg’s character will stop at nothing to find his little girl’s murderer, don’t you?)
Anyway, definitely a change of pace for all us hardened horror heads – but hey, with Pete Jackson at the reins, you know the film will achieve at least some merit along the way.
For those in the sticks or who have been dwelling on a rock somewhere, THE LOVELY BONES is about a 14 year old girl who after being raped and murdered, watches her family and killer from heaven as she wavers between revenge and helping her family cope. It’s based on the best-selling Alice Sebold tome of the same name.
It stars Rachel Weisz, Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, Michael Imperioli, Thomas McCarthy, Jake Abel, Amanda Michalka, and of course the aforementioned Mark Wahlberg and Saoirse Ronin.
