Paranormal DVD info

Perhaps even more impressive than the film itself, the ingenious marketing team behind Oren Peli’s massively successful PARANORMAL ACTIVITY looks to may have missed only one key step. And that’s releasing the DVD (on Blu-Ray as well) after Christmas. Surely if the release date for the disc (which is currently December 29th) was a week earlier, Paramount would raked in those yuletide dollars (of course, there’s always the post-St. Nick day gift cards to look forward to).

But I doubt the studio is fretting. After-all, P.A. did become the highest grossing R-rated thriller of the past decade, eclipsing the $100 million mark a good 2 weeks ago.

As far as specs go, the disc:

“Is presented in widescreen enhanced for 16:9 televisions with Dolby Digital English 5.1 Surround and Spanish 5.1 Surround (theatrical version only) and English, French and Spanish subtitles. The two-disc Blu-ray is presented in 1080p high definition with English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital (theatrical version only) and English, English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles.”

All sounding very friggin’ sweet, no?

The cool thing about P.A. is, depending on which medium you watch the thing (big screen with a crowd, or solo on a small screen), a different experience is to be had. Actually, I think this is the perfect flick to watch by your lonesome, in bed and under the covers, that you immediately identify with the characters and what they’re going through.

So start savin’ those pennies until 4 days after Xmas!
