The success of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY has been out of this world, and even I’m surprised it’s still in the top 10 at the box office. I thought it was a damn creepy flick, and I can’t wait to see what director Oren Peli will do next with AREA 51. Until now we’ve only had a basic premise of ‘investigating Area 51’ but nothing really more… until now.
The pimp-daddy’s at Latino Review scored AREA 51’s script and review it today, and from the sounds of it, this thing is gonna be PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2: WITH ALIENS. So without any further delay, check this out: The “script” for Area 51 reads much like I imagine the “script” for Paranormal Activity did. It’s basically a scene-by-scene breakdown with a list of various props, actors, and the general interactions between the actors and their surroundings. There is no written dialogue, but within the action descriptions are general ideas that the actors will be using to improvise their lines with on set. Unlike Paranormal Activity’s single location, Area 51 is far more expansive in its setting.
I’m not quite sure how I feel about this being a rehash of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. I dug P.A. a lot, and the thought of there being an alien ‘twist’ to it all sounds like it could be cool. But after all this P.A. mania calms down, and this sucker hits theaters next Halloween (just guess, but why the hell not?), will it simply feel like a P.A. rip-off which no one will want to be apart of? There is that possibility…
But there’s so much more to the script review, which you should take the time to check out RIGHT OVER HERE. Stick around these parts for more updates on AREA 51 as we hear it!
